Dear Film Students

We have organized an international student film competition, and would

very much like You to take part in it.

The project bears the name of Nicholas Winton, who in between march and

September 1939, organized the transportation of some 669 mostly Jewish

children from the war-endangered Czechoslovakia. These children’s lives were threatened by Nazi death camps, so Nicholas arranged for them to be taken to safety in London, where they found sanctuary in the homes of British

families.

Exactly 70 years after these events, Czech railways will dispatch another

Winton Train on the 1st of September 2009. The train will travel the

original route from Prague to London.

We would like to find other inspirational stories of ordinary people who

have found the strength, courage and goodness inside themselves to help

others, or the testimonies of those, who in defiance of all that stands

against them, have managed to face conflict and overcome challenging

circumstances.

If You have such a film, or are planning to make one, we

would be pleased to see it registered for the film competition!!

This competition is a unique opportunity for film students from around the

world to shoot documentaries and films inspired by the goodness which they

have encountered in everyday life, thanks to Winton’s mission.

A jury of professional film makers will choose 20 of the best films which

will all be financially awarded (1st prize 6.000 euro, 2nd prize 4.000

euro, 3rd prize 3.000 and 4th-20th prizes 1.500 euro each),and will also

receive valuable gifts from our partner organizations. The finalists will

be invited to ride in the Winton Train from Prague to London in September.

The winning films, their authors and producers will be internationally

promoted through our partners.
